How has ISM benefitted Snigdha Ekkati?
"ISM allowed me to break a major communication barrier I had. Before ISM, public speaking was a phobia to me and I lacked the ability to speak confidently. The program really enabled me to gain confidence in myself and the ability to express myself verbally."
What was a challenge they faced and overcame?
"Cold calling potentially mentors was the biggest challenge I faced during my time in ISM. I wasn't very confident on the phone, so many companies didn't take me seriously. The way I overcame this barrier was through practice. One of the most important things I learned in ISM and still use to this day, is a phrase Mr. Pirtle integrated into my mind: "Don't fake it till you make it, fake it till you BECOME it". Essentially, this quote is what allowed me to push myself out of my comfort zone."
Advice
"Start early! Whether it be with researching potential mentors or your field of study. Starting early will establish good work ethics and reduce stress when deadlines approach."

Mentorship Contribution
"My mentor really helped me understand the healthcare field and taught me the knowledge and skills I still use today. Even though I didn't end up in the exact same field I studied, generic business practices my mentor taught me were very valuable for the field I ended up in. "
